Skin Health Education Day 2020


Leading dermatologists and skin care experts will provide education and training on how to diagnose and treat a range of common skin conditions, particularly suited to nurses, GPs and pharmacists. This one day program will be led by Associate Professor Rosemary Nixon AM.

  • The skin and the psyche
  • Food allergies - advise for parents
  • Allergic contact dermatitis - top 10 allergens
  • Common childhood rashes
  • Skin lasers
  • Treatment options for BCCs and SCCs
  • Treatment of burn scars
  • Skin infections
  • Dermatologic surgery
  • New drugs in dermatology

Learning Outcomes

  1. Use a systematic approach to making a diagnosis in dermatology
  2. Perform a thorough skin check (including patient education)
  3. Discuss new guidelines in identification and management of common skin complaints including psoriasis, eczema, rosacea, ulcers and wounds
  4. Outline the psychological impact of dermatological conditions on patients
  5. Provide current treatment advice for these patients and refer to a dermatologist where necessary
